As long as I could still function in my life and make a decent living, I rather be hated for being who I am. Speaking as someone who has never been popular and is usually seen as the antagonist in group discussions, I can tell you that people disliking really isn't that bad if they don't have the ability to affect your goals. Now, if I'm going on a job interview or a date with a desirable woman, I'll make an effort to become what they want me to be. But if I am in a more common and inconsequential situation, I'll just be me, and you can hate it or love it.

I would rather be hated for who I am. Why should I have to mask myself? Why should I have to be someone I am not to get love. The sad part about it is people fall in love with other people who are putting on this pretend show. But who you really are will eventually show. The charade can only last so long; until you have become okay with you.
