Could we live without it? Sure. It's not necessary for human existance. Whether or not we would *want* to live without it is a different question...wants and needs are two different things.

While it's true that people from all cultures generally incorporate songs and visuals into one's life, movies would not necessarily fall into that...since movies are a relatively recent invention. Even so, as mentioned these things are not necessary to human existance. So to answer your question in a literal way....yes, people could live without it, they simply may not want to.

I think they probably could, but have the choice not too. If there was no music people would hate, music brings so much joy to everyones life and brings people together. Movies yeah i think people definately can live without, but then if there was no movies, everyone would have to be active and actually talk to one another. I wish movies weren't created sometimes, movies and video games are the main reason (besides all the fast food) are the reason why there is an obesity problem.

People HAVE lived without movies for thousands and thousands of years. And, every culture I'm aware of has had music in some form-- and interestingly, until pretty recently, making music was a community affair, not the result of a little techno-box and earphones....

Sure we could! While we're at it, we may as well get a lobotomy so we wouldn't experience anything ever again.

Everyone needs a way to escape their lives sometimes. Both music and film present a good way to do just that.

On the other hand, people may have to resort to doing something old-fashioned like reading to escape reality for a little bit. Ya know.. those rectangular things that have many pieces of paper in them with little words? Books! The poor-man's movie.

I agree we couldn't live without movies or music. It's in the human experience to invent movies (stories, visual interpretations of events) and to make songs. I think it's cultural too, but I think it's part of the human experience. Even if you were the only human alive.

Good question.

yes they can. it's not a part of the basic necessities. BUT! i don't think people would grow emotionally or have dreams or be inspired if we didn't have movies or music. it's a way to express ourselves and to entertain us as well. it's not a "need", it's definitely a "want" but if i can choose i'd rather live in a world with movies than live in a world without one.

I don't think so. since the beggining of time we have been making music on every continent. Try not to listen to music & tell me you never start humming or beating the dask as a drum or something. now I do belive we could live without movies but now that we have been exposed to it we can't get enough.

Well, when the power goes out in the winter ice storms it sure is hard to go without the tv, radio, music, etc. You never really know how much you rely on it until you no longer have it....
