might sound like the easy way out, but make stuff up. Or you tell them it's none of their business. Or you can just be very vague and not get into details. good luck.

You must be opening yourself up to questions. At any rate, since you do feel the boss is intruding, be very vague in your responses and cut them off telling them you have to get some work done. By being evasive, eventually they will stop delving into your personal life and keep your relationship on a business level. But you have to maintain that scenario also. Don't ask them personal questions either. And also, don't tell them it's none of their business if you want to keep your job. Being a smart *** never gets you anywhere.

If you work in an office setting for example, don't be using the company email for your own personal use. Don't be sending personal emails from your home computer to coworkers at company email addresses either.
Also don't be surfing the web on company computers.
Both of these issues can be totally traced back to you and they will know everything you do. There is keystroke software also.
The software is widely available for any company to purchase and the issues I mentioned are becoming BIG ISSUES in todays working environment.
Whether any of this applies to you or not, I don't know. Its good advice for anyone who reads this and doesn't know what your current employer may be doing to spy on your computer activites.
BEWARE next time your fire up the ol' keyboard.

Dont bring your personal life to work for them to intrude! When you're at the office, it's THEIR office, so I wouldnt call it intruding. What's in the office, IS THEIRS!!! So, leave your personal life at home!

Do not discuss your personal life in the office and do not have anything to do with the other employees outside of the office.
Your private life is your business as long as you do not take it to work with you.

Your boss sounds like he or she is starved for ether attention or entertainment. Best way to handle that is steer them to a similarly afflicted coworker and pry they don't teem up on you.

Tell them you don't want to get in trouble by chatting on the boss's dime. Since they ARE the boss, how can they argue?
