The main differences between Test cricket and One Day cricket are as foollows:

1) Duration of a Test match is 5 days, whereas the duration
of ODI is only 1 day and each side will get only 50 overs
of play.

2) In Test Cricket there is no restriction on the number of
overs to be bowled, whereas in ODI, a bowler can bowl
only 10 overs maximum.

3) There is no field restrictions in the Test Match as in the
case of ODI.

Due to the above factors, in a test match batsman can take his own time to build up a score and even if he fails in the first innings, he can try to improve in the second innings. Further
you can bowl your most successful bowlers for any number of
overs as compared to 10 overs in ODI.

Hence the strategy of the batsman in ODI is to score runs as fast as possible and the bowler to tie down the batsman and
bowl without conceding many runs and at the same time try
to take wickets.

in one day cricket big shots r played
batsmen like 2 go over the top & create an atmosphere of xcitement
it is a short version and people like it because it is a result oriented game
test cricket is a 5 day game
batsmen like 2 stay for as long as possible and they want 2 make individual records
it can b boring as sometimes there is no result
ODIS r fun and njoying while tests r not so fun 2 watch

I hope one or two of the Team India players get to read my response and pass it on to the coach and players....even to the government of India!

The fundamental difference in strategy is with one day matches, you haven't got all day!

in a one day match the player needs to score in some limited overs so he has to hurry a little bit in scoring runs but in test matches the player has 5 days time and unlimited overs to play so he can score runs slowly and reach his highest runs.
in a one day match the player should be a little aggresive than the test player. in a test match the player needs to be calm and peacefull to score runs.

thank you
