I just found out the TV show Dexter is based off the book Darkly Dreaming Dexter. If I buy and read the book will it spoil what's going on in the show?

It most definitely will. Don't do it. They will make you mad at both the book and the show.

I love Dexter, but haven't read the books yet either, so I'm probably not much help here - you could always start the book & if you think it's going to spoil the show, then wait to finish the book... ALSO - There are 3 books, so you could buy & read the other two first, then when the season finishes, read the other

I read the book a few years ago and so far, the TV show pretty well follows the book. Having already read the book just seems to enhance the TV show for me, especially with such a good actor portraying Dexter.

I should add that the book is way more graphic than the TV show is.
