I live in Illinois, and i have heard a rumor that if you are scheduled to work and have been sent home in a day that is NOT your fault, they must pay you at least 4 hours pay. I was wondering if this is true and if so, where info on this might be.

you have heard wrong. every place of business must post labor laws. if you dont see it ask your employer. its usually by time clock. but the only time employer is required to compensate you for is for hours employed. many companies do have compensation plans along those lines, its usually 2 hours, but its not the law.
