It has nothing to do with "keeping up with technology." When people share music online, that means MILLIONS of people can obtain illegal copies from ONE legitimate $12 cd purchase. Think about the magnitude of that situation. How is it fair? It is stealing. It is the same as if those millions of people just walked into the music store and shoplifted the CDs.

It is legal, however, to PAY for music from a legal download site, listen to streaming music from a legal site, or copy your OWN cds that you have purchased... and NOT share them.

Level of technology has nothing to do with the issues. The work is not yours, you have no rights concerning someone Else's work, no matter where it is.

It is easy, with today's technology to make keys that fit almost any lock. So, the next time you or a family member of yours park your car in a public parking lot, I'll use my high tech created key to open the door and drive off with it.

Too, I'm going to sell it to my partner when I'm through with it.

I guess you have issues with my plan and way of thinking.

I guess the right way only comes into play when it effects what you consider as yours, other peoples propriety is up for grabs.

I hope you never enter into the political arena.

To abolish laws entitling music to be public property. Prior to the advent of modern copyright laws (125 years or so) people would pay to see the particular artist perform a song. There was no concept of OWNING a song or music. This is one more instance of unchecked capitalism find another THING to CAPITALIZE on. Some things should be enjoyed by everyone. Stop with the money for everthing.

True artists do not look for ridiculous compensation for their work. No one should ever, ever be entitled to say 25,000,000.00 for a song called "Drop it like its hot" or "Suicide". Really, the only people who think artists shouldn't be cheated out of their money are people who profit from, or would like to be part of, the music industry.
