I'm an 80's punk rocker, seen black flag, GBH circle jerks, suicidal tendencies etc....yes, people have died in pits, people get hurt all the time, it's tame now compared to what it once was...if you want to see a real mosh pit...go see agnostic front or a slayer show

Chances are if it's an Indie/Alternative show that there won't be a pit, and if there is one, it'll be fairly weak. I've been going to shows for years, all throughout the Rock spectrum. If you're a bit of a novice to the mosh pit, a moderately upbeat Indie/Alternative show is a good place to start; you wouldn't want to go diving into a Hatebreed or a Slayer pit for starters ;0)

Use your best judgement though. Pits don't generally involve punching, kicking and fighting (though at a Hardcore/Post-Punk show, it's certainly a possibility); it's more about body impact and pushing one another. As long as you keep your arms up and your feet in motion, you should be fine.

Personally, I view a good mosh pit as a near-religious experience. It gets your adrenaline pumping and it's one more way of physically connecting to the music through the movement. Action/Reaction.

And if you're not enjoying it or you're a bit afraid, just step aside. Pits rarely spring up out of nowhere; you'll usually have an idea of when and where one is going to occur and then it's a conscious choice if/when you want to participate or not. And if you do, you should know that people in the pit are generally pretty conscientious of one another. Like "Kyle N." said, if someone falls down, pick them up right away. People are very attuned to one another falling in the pit, because at some point or another it's happened to all of us. That said, it's instinctual if someone DOES happen to fall down.

Hope you enjoy your show ;0)

any indie band will not have a bad mosh pit. the mosh pits are just fun there. you won't get your *** kicked like at a tool concert or disturbed concert or korn concert or really death metal concerts that people come back with broken noses, bruised eyes and whatnot. Sounds like you are going to a weak mainstream rock show. I wouldn't worry about getting hurt. And you definitely won't die,I've never heard of anyone dying. You might get your toes stepped on, I suggest wearing thick sneakers. that's the worst that will happen or maybe a sore leg or a little pain, nothing serious. If its like green day, the mosh pits are weak. the less angry the music the milder the mosh.

There will definetly be a mosh pit, the size of it depends on the size of the venue. If you are afraid of getting hurt then just stay towards the back, the moshpit usually forms near the front. You can be near it without any real danger though, you might get pushed around a bit with the crowd, but if you don't want to mosh no one is going to try and hurt you.

Okay rock and alternative yeah there will be one but you don't HAVE to go in it if you don't want to there pretty easy to avoid. You might get a bit hurt your first time but like after that you get used to moshing and its really fun. If your normally clumsy though and lose balance a lot you may never get used to it but otherwise it gets really fun fast if not immediately. I think the only time someone died moshing it wasn't from moshing it was from drvg$ or dehydration. Just go with it and if you don't like it move away, you can have fun at a rock concert without moshing.

If your nervous, you dont need to be, mosh pits dont just start out of nowhere, you will be able to see it start, and if you dont want to be a part of it, just move to a different area, most people do...

If you do wanna be in the pit, remember that most experienced people do everything they can for someone who falls over or looks hurt, its an unwritten rule that if you are in a mosh pit and you see someone fall you pick them up, RIGHT AWAY,

maybe for your first time, step back and watch and get a feel for it, then jump in for a second with a friend...

Dude, If ur scared just stay AWAY from the middle. It all depends on the show as to how serious it gets. I went to a Social D show a few weeks ago and the pit was something serious. They were spilling out all over the place. You have dozens of people slamming into each other. Someone is bound to get hurt. Usually not too bad but I have seen security carry a chick out of the pit bleeding. People also fight alot in there. Just use your best judgment. It can also be alot of fun. Just don't dish more than ur willing to take. Have fun...

I would recommend staying on the outer edge of the mosh pit. They are some crazy thing! It really depends on the energy and mood of the audience though! I've been in one before and it never got out of hand, but I did get nervous a couple of times. Once the crowd starts going it's like the beat gets into them and they will start swaying and moving a certain way and it's like you get sucked into it... lol it's not trippy or anything and I've never done drugs, it's just weird. They are a lot of fun just be careful and use your head!!

if your to scared to get in the pit, then dont. it is very dangorous and not for people that tend to bruise easily. people do get hurt and there has been cases of death. i love mosh pits though, but i have been jumping in the pit since i was like 9, and i'm 20! i'm very little and i have gotten broken bone's, stitches and concusions. you just have to know for sure that your willing to take the plunge. try going to an Exodus concert and jumping in their pit!

It became into at a Casualties tutor and there became right into a circle pit, so I jumped in. It became into all sturdy until some as shole that became into status on the realm caught out his leg and tripped me. on account that I wasn't looking forward to it I fell and he desperate it would be fairly humorous to step on my hand. i did no longer circulate it quickly adequate so he ended up stepping on my thumb and effing it up. (This all occurred exceptionally quickly) Then some dude helped me up, advised the guy he became right into a douchebag and shoved him. I basically walked away reason my thumb harm like hell and have been given some ice from the bar human beings. Later that night a number of my pals and that i shoved him right into a epidermis interior the pit. the subsequent time we observed him he had a black eye and a cut back on his lip and became into complaining to risk-free practices who looked like they did no longer provide a **** =D
