Unlike my other questions, this is serious. Before you read my story, I want to say that I’ve had a concussion before(during summer program, tripped on fence wiring that didn’t make me fall, but go forward real fast into the ground head first, got up and told my friends I was fine because strangely I didn’t really feel any pain, felt), the doctors said it wasn’t severe(no bleeding or anything) after doing what I believe was a CT scan(I was in 4th grade), but I felt EXTREMELY nauseous and dizzy at the time. In a time period 2-3 weeks later after that incident, I hit my head 2 times maybe, but it was really nothing. I’ve felt fine in my head since then! It’s been 5-6 years.

Also keep in mine when I use the word ‘better’, I really mean less than ok, minor improvement, etc.

It all started on last Wednesday, I wasn't really trying to crack really, but trying to move it around to relieve it, but I think I might have damaged something because the area around the joint, I believe it's called the atlas, hurt and was sensitive whenever I moved it slightly like I was going to try and crack it.

On Thursday and Friday I had headaches, but they weren't normal headaches, it was caused by whatever I did to the joint(still sensitive). I would get sharp pains on the “left brain”(specifically feels like the parietal lobe) and would cringe.

Later that Friday night(or around 2 am in Saturday, w/e) I went to bed and when I laid my neck to the side, I literally felt like life was leaving me! I stood up for a bit in my bed, thinking it was all in my head. When I went down again, the same thing happened and I got freaked. I got up, turned on the lights and went to the kitchen. Then all of a sudden I started shaking real bad and every muscle in my body was spas-

(CONT.)

spasming like crazy, including my neck muscles.

I stayed up for a while, feeling slightly nauseous in my upper stomach and end of my esophagus in my mouth and my head felt a dizzy/emptiness/dumbfounded(can’t describe it well) feeling , like I wanted to vomit but I couldn’t also.

During the time I stayed up, I was hesitant to ask my parents to take me to the emergency room. I don’t know about the cost and such of these civilian ERs, I’ve only been to one at a Naval base, and my dad is now retired and we don’t live near a base anymore. We’re not making near as much income now, and I’m afraid of debt or so.

I went to sleep later, feeling a bit better. When I woke up later the same day( 2 am remember) my neck muscles felt EXTREMELY strange! They felt real loose and not normal, and it still feels like that but not as much. Been like that since, except I feel a slight headache all around and near that joint, and stomach feels a bit upset.

I haven’t taken anything like ibuprofen because I’m afraid of a lethal side effect. I’m going to try a cold compresss now. It also hurts a bit when I push on it and the area[atlas joint] with my finger

I’m going to start treatment with a good chiropractor for something else(before all of this crap occurred) . I’m afraid about this thing and that he might accidentally kill me or something!

Do I need to get some sort scan like MRI or CT? Will a retired veteran’s insurance cover that for a dependent?

I think I really need to get checked out by one of those scans because I did something, my head doesn’t feel the same…

I might repost this again to get more answers as it will probably get pushed back for not posting this during peak times.

Also, I REALLY don't think this has anything at all to do with my concussion. I felt completely all these years, even after the other blows. Really, the concussion occured on concrete and the other on grass and soft soil.

What you are indicating is a highly inflamed area located basically at the base of the skull.. this will involve the cranial nerves. You have described some of the symptoms which are stimulated by those nerves. Also, when you have a repression of the sympathetic nervous system, you will have the over-all symptoms you have described.

I am sure your doctor of Chiropractic will not touch you until he/she sees an x-ray of the area.. Inasmuch as you have been under care there before, it does indicate you have a chronic problem with your posture and your spine. It has actually been a chronic sub-acute condition which was brought to the acute state by your injury. When you tried to relieve the pressure of the upper neck, you encountered that highly inflamed area and set of the chain reaction you experienced; You now are experiencing an imbalance of the autonomic nervous system which can have a drastic effect on all the functions supplied by those 12 cranial nerves. The parasympathetic system has over-ridden the sympathetic (are supposed to balance each other) and this will create other symptoms which you have expressed..Even have become highly sensitive to lights. and perhaps your blood pressure has fallen a bit. The ramifications of the autonomic nervous system are quite diverse. All the vessels and other features controlled by dilation are now enacted..without anything to balance them, to maintain a normal state.

Would be very important to get your DC's opinion on your condition.

Get arthritis is an old wives tale. The "cracking" sound is the fluid in the joint moving from one side to the other. So for your neck it's the same.

The Homeopathic Remedies ARNICA 200 and RHUS TOX 200 will put all of that right within taking a few doses without any side effects or complications of any kind. Take them together hourly till you start feeling relief after that just once a day till you feel 100% well and stop taking the remedies there and then. :-)
Take care and God Bless you !

Sounds like a pinched nerve to me. Which can be excruciating. The shakiness was probably due to you being freaked out which will exacerbate the pain and uneasy feeling. Go to your Doctor. Explain the situation. Probably do some ex rays to figure it out. Here's the thing....if its bothering you and making you worry and affecting your normal daily routine. No point in suffering...Go get it checked and rechecked til you feel at ease about it.
Take care of yourself.
