I'm not sure which is normal, being able to hold it, or not. (Please pardon the bluntness) My husband and I have opposing views on the matter, and I'd like to know if there is a right answer to this question, or if every woman is different. Please advise!!!

it depends on the strength of your pelvic floor muscle. You can tigthen your vaginal walls to hold it in a bit longer, but that is due to very strong muscles which some women have, some dont. Some women can also squeeze on command during sex (made my fiance hit the roof the first time i did it). Its neither normal nor abnormal it just means you did pelvic floor exercises and probably still do.

By "holding it in" I assume you mean keeping it in there by force or by tightening your vaginal muscles.
The only way to keep Semen inside you is if you were upside down. But as soon as you became right side up, It would "come out" Its about gravity. Now the sperm can last much longer inside.
But you don't have any control over that once his semen is released inside you.

If you rock back so it can not drain out you are holding it in.
You do not need to hold it in all day to have a baby just a few mins.
