Yoga is an ancient art of India. The main concern of yoga is conecting with your inner spirit. This is called as PRANAYAM. If I split the word it will read as Pran and AYAM. Pran means the breath or life and AYAM means control. So collectively its controlling your breath ie controlling your life. All yoga postures are based on maintaining your breatrh which directly cooridates your heart and maintaining the curves and shapes of body in proper position which further enhances the breathing coordination.

This is the basic of yoga by which you discipline your heart and body. Once you acheive this then rest is OK. You can control anything. Loosing weight is just a fun.

But caution only a trained personnel can give you right direction, These days its a booming business in western countries.

Alot of people practice Yoga as another form of meditation. It is a way to ease the spirit and mind, and also it is commenlly used to heal muscle cramps and other pain in the lower/upper back.

It is mostly suppost to be relaxing, as a form of meditation and getting in touch with yourself, but in some cases, some of the streaching can help with weight loss.
