I think Oklahoma is the "home of the heartland." It's a charming state with Southern charm, and midwestern values. It's also a fast growing real estate market, has loads of family activities, and has a great capital city (OKC) with Bricktown. Some might think Okies are a bit sheltered, but what's wrong with that?

It's a fantastic place to raise a family.

The quality of life is OUTSTANDING. You get more than your bang for the buck in terms of real estate (size, quality, newness, amenities). There are activities and perks galore-- from easy parking, to the ease of driving anywhere, to plenty of sports teams.

The downsides are that the public transportation system is very lacking. Some public schools need improvement. It also can be a lonely place to live if you don't know anyone (you don't always meet your neighbors since you have relative big yards).

I live in Washington, D.C., but used to live in Oklahoma.

I myself have never been shown empirical proof that Oklahoma exists -- and so will remain agnostic on the issue until somebody shows me proof. ;)
