i have an idea for a movie, but just dont know what action to take to break the ice.

The BEST way to find out the format for writing a screenplay is to check out other people's ones. There are a million resources on the net, just Google it.

You can also use a screenwriting program, like Final Draft, which automatically has the structure built in and is much easier to use for writing scripts than Word, which can get quite frustrating.

It's AWESOME to see that you're making the initiative to write it, because I've had an amazing idea in my head since last year, and the hardest part is finding the motivation to put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard.

If you go to zoetrope.com, they have the proper format for a screenplay

You need a Screenwriting program. Now most are expensive, but check out Celtx, or Cinergy Script editor. (They're free)
