Not always, because sometimes, the moment in question sucks. That is the short version, *lol*. ;)
The slightly longer version is....sometimes you can get too much of a good thing. Focus becomes tunnel vision, thinking just of the short term leads to overlooking *obvious* and serious problems.
Take, for example....the rather loaded and self-serving Question one Oprah Winfrey asked here recently. She expects *us* non-millionaire people to figure out how to a) "pay it forward", expecting nothing in return, while b) changing someone's life, but c) we cannot invest the money or use third parties to increase the size of the rather meager amount--that would be spamming or cheating, and yet d), we are supposed to "Change someone's life" for the better, permanently....within the WEEK that her show sees fit to cover the "issue" of her half random, self serving spasm of mock generosity. :)
Did I understand her Question correctly there? Oh yeah.
Point is, if you are living in the moment, you see nothing wrong with fool's errands like this. But....snap out of the tunnel vision a moment, take to higher ground and look at the bigger picture.
Can *anyone* really solve the problem of another's homelessness in a WEEK with $1,000 in U.S. funds, unless the "home" being built is a *grass hut*? Not to disrespect grass huts, mind you, but if the one thousand dollars stays in *any* part of the developed world, it *isn't* going to fix *anyone's* homelessness in a single WEEK. Not without expecting anything in return. The *time limit*, the whole notion of ignoring that most people's problems *do NOT* happen overnight and will not be solved overnight....that is a by-product of refusing to see that there *is* a bigger picture. That there *is* such a thing as Cause and Effect, and that Venn Circles actually *mean* something in context here (in terms of many causes having one BIG effect, and many effects having many causes too).
Point is, self-promotion aside, if you are stuck with the blinders on, living only "in the moment" and not seeing the bigger picture, you are missing out on clear and present information that is *needed* if you actually are going to "change a life" or "solve a problem" with any degree of effectiveness.
Sorry to go on so....but I hope I was helpful. ;) Thanks for your time!

It's not so much "advice" as it is a TRUTH...we all only have one life to live and just like you hear people say "live each day like it's your last."; it's only to press the point that tomorrow is not promised!
Time is fleeting and years pass by in the blink of an eye...we would all be happier, if we really grasped those "moments" that we love the most;
the birth of a baby
a babies 1st word, steps, tooth, etc
our wedding day
graduating
salvation
a great concert
all the memorable Christmas', thanksgivings', birthdays'
a new car
a new job
a promotion
a home
and the list goes on and on...

Probably not the best in the world, since most of us have quite a few moments, but it's how I've been all my life, and I've got to see and do a lot of things most people I grew up with never did.

Very good advice. You can't live in the past, and shouldn't worry about the future

I don't think it's always good because living in the moment can cause serious consequences. You have to look before you leap.

LIVE IN THE MOMENT IS A GOOD THOUGHT!!!!I DO FOLLOW IT...BUT NOT ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!
BUT I THINK MORE THAN 60% OF THE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD DNT FOLLOW IT......
MOST OF THE PEOPLE LIVE FOR A BETTER FUTURE.....N NOT FOR A PERFECT PRESENT

If you stay in the past or future, you/re missing now. Since now is what we really have, I'd say so. Do need to plan for the big things though.
