I've given up on trying to fix the dash of my car. I already know it will be about a grand to replace so that's out. It's an 89 grand am.. not really worth that kind of money. So, my question is NOT HOW TO FIX IT.. but rather, is there another way I can tell how fast I'm going. Is there something I can buy that will tell me my speed? I'm not really worried about not being able to see the fuel gage or anything but I'm constantly nervous that my guesstimations are incorrect when I'm driving ( especially when there's no traffic around me) Anyone know of a cool gadget that could help me out?

FLOOR IT, TRUST ME, they dont go faster than 65. If you get pulled over, youll probably just get a fix it ticket.

You could install a tachometer, and get a buddy to drive with you while you mark off common speeds on a chart with rpms.. If you were a more experienced driver, you could just forget about it. The cable snapped on my old car, and I drove with no speedometer for over a year. I never got a ticket. In traffic, i double checked speed with other vehicles, on the highway, I just drove by sound and feel, and managed to stay within 5mph of the posted speeds at all times.

Get a speedometer from jc whitney. You glue 3 magnets on the driveshaft and a sensor reads them.Have to hook up three wires. I had one for several years.Real accurate. Can remove when you sell the car.Later I put a cruise control on that used the same sensor. Its cheaper than a ticket

there isn't one. Just use your best guess. You usually can tell if you are going too fast. If you start drifting, slow down
