I agree that it differs from society to society. There are different sets of beliefs, and ways of getting attached. As to how and what to do, I have no exact answer to it. Choice or chance would probably be the two things I can think of.

In this age of modernism, I guess it's ok for girls to make the first move, start talking to the person and get to know the person a little more for a start (instead of just having a crush on the person). Maybe following that, go out with that person in a group. Slowly moving towards going out on a 1-1 date. Everything else should come in place then.

I'm against premarital sex. Many guys/girls would hope that their partners are "clean" so for that to happen, yet they do the exact opposite. Such things to happen it'd have to begin with the people going into relationship or are in relationships already.

You meet someone either by choice or by accident. If that meeting sparks an interest and/or attraction between both of you then you suggest another meeting (a date) and get to know each other a little better. If you both find there is a continuing interest and/or attraction between you then the dating and discovering of each other continues. The rest of it will just fall into place naturally. Whatever feels good and is acceptable to both of you is what you will both do.

"Pop culture" is rendering dating antiquated. Courtship is fading away in this age of "hooking up". I'm not a chauvinist, but I blame the girls completely for that.
