first of all I would definitely seek the advise of my doctor. I am very sorry for your loss but it could be your sleeplessness could be due to clinical depression. depression doesn't just affect your sleep but it also affects your day . If you have lost interest in things you usually enjoy, feel hopeless or just feel sad and are having any discouraging thoughts I would definitely look into an appointment with my doc, there are several treatment options available, and only your doctor can help you with that choice. good luck and again I am really sorry for your loss. God bless

Try to think about good times with your nan. As for the lack of sleep, you may be stressed 'cos you have no money for xmas or the funeral and unless you are able to sort out even temporary xmas work I do not know what else to suggest as I'm a little tired at the moment. Someone once suggested to me that I wind down before I sleep. So switch off the TV, make sure you have a nice hot bath, have a hot milky drink before bed and when you go to bed make sure its quiet, no music or TV. Just try to lie down and relax and go to sleep. The bath and hot milky drink should help. I find listening to music keeps me awake sometimes as I am concentrating on listening to it! I hope things look up for you soon and that the new year will be better. Good luck with getting some money and getting some sleep and please just remember and celebrate your nan for the wonderful lady she was. Good luck!

Well, I think you should check with a doctor and they could help you out with the sleep and anxiety. If you can't get there the Benedryl works great to help you relax and fall asleep. It's very cheap at Costco. you can get the generic brand 200 tabs for about $3.00. Ask the pharmacy, they are very helpful.
I find I have to take it at least 1 hour or more before I want to go to bed. So sorry about your nan. Hope you sleep tight!

i`m sorry about your nan .It`s not surprising you can`t sleep If your in the UK the only good sleeping tablets are on prescription ,so you would need to see the DR .your going through a bad time and he would most likely give you something short term The strongest they give you are usually Benzodiazipines (temazepam Nitrazepam,Loprazolam ) but they don`t make you feel good in the morning .Its better really if you can get through it without them .You need the time to grieve for your nan i`m not trying to preach and i feel for you but maybe blocking things out with tablets might make it worse in the long run
Take care Keny x

Learn a bit about meditation and relaxation techniques.
You will find that when you learn to relax properly, and control your breathing, sleep will come.

The earlier you get up in the AM, the easier you'll go to bed at night.
