It sounds like a simple question but it's not. How about art that isn't good? Art that is good but not brilliant? Is spending time on art more valuable than spending time preserving the environment or working for humanitarian causes? Could a person lead a perfectly fulfilling life without art? I don't know the answer to these questions. That is why I am asking!

I think you are halfway there.

Art is in everything we do and see.

Without art life would be a world of greys tones.

Art itself is subjective, there is no good and bad, only good and bad in the eyes of the beholder. Have you ever noticed how the minority tell us what is good and bad art.

Art is potentially more deadly than the most lethal weapon, as it provoces thought, and though in itself is a double edged sword. Thought can incite violence or calm a frenzied mob- that is why art is hugely important in our lives.

more important than the enviroment certainly in the right hands.

Art shows us different ways of looking at our world. Bad art shows us what we don't like. Good art shows us what we do like. Its all subjective. Art can help us appreciate the environment and humanity. I'm sure many blind people lead fulfilling lives without ever seeing a beautiful work of art. Its great to respond to an intelligent question. Keep it up.

Historically speaking: You could say art is responsible for the creation of written language as letter-forms derive from pictograms created to convey messages. As a graphic designer I use art to do just this. Many many people don't realize how influential images can be in their lives and decision making. Many artists are working for environmental and humanitarian causes by using their art to gain interest in them. It draws attention. And if used correctly can be quite affective in bringing out an emotion and setting a mood that makes the viewer take action and so forth...Art is in the eye of the beholder, one person junk is anothers master piece.

Give the ten points to qldtravelguru - he said it best.

Just further to that, Diego Rivera said "All art is propaganda", which is something that I thought about long and hard before reaching the conclusion that there is substance in his statement (if we bear in mind that propaganda can be detached from its negative connotations).

ah great question the price is in the eye of the beholder, translation the artist prices it what its worth to them, then some buys it but if they price it and no one buys it they work is not good and should keep trying
