If I were to go to Tokyo to teach, how much will I make. I know English, Spanish, and Japanese. Also, how about if I was an actor.

In Japan, the minimum salary for teacing is 250,000 yen a month full time. It is enough to live on and even save if you work at it.

I was in a japanese film last year, but they only hire foreigners for extra roles and very small acting parts. In particular if your are latin or a latino, they only have VERY stereotypical roles - like drug dealer, gang banger, thug, etc. The movie that I was in, I played a drunk mexican (I'm not mexican) in a bar harrassing a japanese guy. It was okay, but after that the only other parts I were offered was to play a sleazy role as a drug dealer that gets caught by japanese police. Also, you must be REALLY careful here acting, because they will tell you it's an acting job and really they are making a fake documentary to put on TV and show japanese viewers how dangerous latin people, latinos & blacks are.

I knew a black guy from America that had a similar experience. They asked him to shoot a "music video" where he was shouting at japanese girls calling them his "ho's" etc. and rapping & dancing, and standing next to a low-rider. He thought it was simply a music video. However, when it aired on TV, it was part of a documentary stating how dangerous immigration was to japan because of the blacks from America. TRUE story!

As an ESL teacher you can make $30,000 or more per year. BUT as Meghan said it is REALLY expensive here - you WON'T be able to save any money. If you are really dying to move to asia and teach English. I would suggest Taiwan. I have a friend over there and he makes also about $30,000 a year, but Taiwan is MUCH MUCH cheaper than japan. He has a nice big house he is renting and a new car! Plus Taiwan isn't overcrowded as much as japan, the streets are bigger, the houses are bigger. It's better!

If you are native English speaker then it is good to be here than any other country only when you have a job confirmed. Though there are some problems but still better than other countries.

Payment varies from company to company.
Japan is costly but it is up to to you how you save your salary?
