Yes, it can and does. If you don't believe me, then drain all your accounts, liquidate your assets, give all the money away and see how much happiness you are left with. My guess would be not much. Money can buy the proper food and health care that willl allow your body to maintain functionality and your brain to formulate the chemical reactions that cause the emotion of happiness. Money wil buy the things that keep us entertained in our idle moment and make us more desirable as friends and romantic partners. I don't think any honest thought pattern will overlook the importance of money. The way I see it, money is more important than love and just about as important as self-esteem when it comes to making people happy.

No, but money can sure help you enjoy it a little more when you are able to be around the people you care about and do the things you like to do most, without having limitations financially. There are rich people out there who have nothing to do with their husband's or wives because they are unhappily married. They are not with the right person. Money can't fix unhappiness and therefore can't buy happiness.

This has nothing to do with opinion. There is ample research on the topic.
Happiness increases linearly with income up to a household income of 100,000$. After that, the graph flatlines. In other words, more money doesn't result in more happiness.
Sudden lottery winners are no more happy than sudden quadruplegics, 6 months after the incident

money can buy happiness. yes it can. it probably depends on whose happiness. give the money to a guy who couldnt afford to pay his daughter's school fees, and yes that money buys not only his happiness, but his entire family's. and at this moment, the family will be most appreciative of the cash they have.
but give the money to an already rich woman, and she probably think that it doesnt add much to her bank account; there you go it doesnt buy her happiness. in fact it probably wouldnt be enough to get her that new Prada coat.
most importantly, its about the "taking for granted" issue. if a person can maintain the usage of the money gained or earned, then the happiness can also be equally maintained and luxuriously enjoyed.

The biggest cause of unhappiness is being in an insecure situation. Thus having a little put aside for a rainy day can give you a feeling of control over adversity

Consider that when Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, he wrote of "freedom." That "Freedom" is money. Think about it. If you have no money, then you are a slave to your creditors. If you have money, you are free to choose from a vast assortment of options. Not so if you have no money. Look at Bill Gates or Warren Buffett, then in contrast, look at me.
But, money also comes with responsibility.

While it may not buy happiness, it makes it a lot easier to be happy. With money you can buy time. Having time affords one the ability to do things that one enjoys.

Money can't buy happiness, but most people think it can, because our capitalist society is strucured in such a way that the lack of money does actually lead to stress and pain.

Yes, it can. Women are attracted to men who are successful, who live up to their potential, and money is a sign of living up to your potential. money buys the symbols of success in society, nice homes and nice vacations, quality clothes and fun toys. having women attracted to you is good for self esteem, and hence you are more happy. So yes, money can buy happiness.
