Do you have a router with wireless capability? (instead of just a regular router)

Make sure that the wireless module is turned on on your laptop. If you still cannot find a wireless signal, then you may need to configure the router.

If you are sure that your router has wireless capability, you need to make sure that the wireless is on and broadcasting -- you need to "setup" the wireless router with a access point name, you should enable WPA security. have you done that?

To configure your router, connect your laptop to it using a Ethernet cable. Go to a browser and type https://192.168.1.1 - this should open up your router's admin console -- enable wi-fi from here (the actual steps to do this will vary depending on the wireless router that you have).

Hmmm check for a couple of things and see if it works:

1. See if there is any button on your pc to enable/disable wireless card, like my HP does... once I accidentally pushed it and wasted precious hours to figure out what was wrong. Usually the button is a small one but there's an LED indicator that comes on if the wireless is enabled.

2. Under the control panel, see if you can find 'Wireless Network Setup Wizard' - try using it detect and configure your wireless network.

Don't buy laptops from companies that make fidges, stoves, washers and dryers.

In all honesty it could be anything, from there not being a wireless NIC in the laptop to a software/driver/user issue.

you need to put the WAP on the wireless into your computer, use the wireless connection manager.
