I'm wondering whether I should pursue a career in Math/Science/Engineering at the University of Rhode Island or a career in the Graphic Design program at the Art Institutes. I do really well in science and math and have recently gotten very SAT scores back, but I'm not sure if that's what will be in the money in a few years. Is graphics more secure jobwise in the future or is being a chemist or computer engineer? Is it worth paying all that money to go to college?

I believe that education is never a waste of time or money.

If I was to choose, however, I'd lean towards the University of Rhode Island, rather than the Art Institutes. I'd worry less right now about your major, and more about getting the best and broadest education possible.

At the U of Rhode Island, you'll be able to explore a broader spectrum of courses and possible careers than you will at the art institute. Did you know, for instance, that the U of Rhode Island's art department actually has a graphic design concentration? You'll also be able to take courses in your other areas of interest, and try out some new subjects that you may not know about just yet. For example, perhaps you'll take some business courses and discover that marketing is a great way to combine your creative side and your logical side.

Unfortunately, the art institutes will not give you these sort of options - you'll pretty much be limited to art. And, frankly, the quality of education will be probably better at the U of Rhode Island than the art institute.

In the meantime, if you'd like to explore some different majors, I'd suggest you check out these three links, and read up on the different possibilities --

I graduated from regulation this 12 months too and am feeling very unfavorable. I honestly have a education contract and am doing the scottish LPC equivalent, yet my traineeship has been deferred until 2011, and that i HATE the course i'm on! completely going off the assumption of being aa criminal expert now as I won't qualify until 2013. the completed factor replaced into meant to be that qualifying could shop me amused for a pair of years and supply me some form of journey so i'm no longer entering into the conventional activity marketplace straight away from uni. My suggestion is do no longer worry approximately it, lots of contemporary graduates would have gaps of their CVs from 2007-20?? because of the recession, so attempt to think of of something you will desire to honestly savour? volunteering? Or get a rubbish activity for slightly to shop up money and circulate traveling? i desire to do a masters next 12 months as I particularly fancy academia, if no longer it is going to likely be waitressing for six months then traveling for an identical. i think of i will do my traineeship, even nevertheless i'm no longer nuts approximately it, in basic terms for some form of expert journey. Hoping to do something in interior of sight government or a charity if academia would not artwork out. a minimum of you have an excellent degree, you're in a extra effective place than many. have you ever appeared at businesses like the regulation value? they have learn assistant variety posts you will desire to savour, it is going to likely be criminal journey yet on regulation reform fairly than sensible stuff. the international is your oyster, circulate to NYC and waitress, or get an internship in China. in case you're into traveling it is the time to do it! sturdy luck, and attempt to no longer worry, we are all interior an identical boat.
