Remember: a negative exponent means an inverse. So:

(8x)^-3 = 64

(8x)^3 = 1/64

8x = 1/4

x = 1/32

cube root both sides which gets rid of the ^3 and reduces 64 to 4, then divide both sides by 8, making x=1/2

take the cube root of both sides which gives you

8x=4

then divide by 8

x=1/2

DIANE IS RIGHT IF ITS A NEGATIVE EXPONENT YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE INVERSE

i think it would be
(8x)^-3=64
-8x=64
-8x/-8=64/-8(dividing both sides by neg 8)
x=-8
I hope you understand

Cube both sides and then you get 2x=4 and then solve for x which gives you 2.
