Nope. The whole point of the first movie is that Rocky was a 2-bit loan shark's enforcer who never really did anything meaningful with his life. The whole big deal about the fight with Apollo Creed was that they were looking for a challenger who could "go the distance", or complete all 15 rounds. Rocky went the distance, but Apollo still won the fight.
In Rocky II, Apollo was pissed off because the media was making such a big deal about how close Rocky came to beating him, so he demanded a rematch to prove who was the better fighter. That's when Rocky won the title.

well i see it this first fight was great he wanted to go the distance and he did but apollo took it as a joke but it was still a great fight now number two was the greatest now apollo had something to prove rockys wife wanted him to retire and when she said i want you to win and i was was on the edge of my seat in the theater i wish in rocky 4 they would have shown that fight to
