if they can...most of the college football schedules have already been made for next year...as they are made YEARS in advance.
but I would love to see more games putting traditional powerhouses together early in the season.

Most teams don't, and I'm including USC in this because they are afraid of losing a few games thus knocking them out of national championship contention. USC traditionally plays Notre Dame, and that's really the only tough game in their schedule. The Ohio State/Texas matchups we've had the past few years have been more exciting, as these games were played at the front of the season, which shows a lot of guts for the coaches who scheduled them. No surprise the winner of this matchup both times went on to play in the national championship and maybe beat USC? Texas did last season, and Ohio State will this season.
Hook 'em!!!

Why should they? They already had the toughest schedule coming into the 2006 season. They have been in the national championship game the past three seasons, and if they win on Saturday, it will be four. They barely missed out on winning a third consecutive national title last season. Ohio State , Michigan, Florida, and Texas are all good programs, but none of them have accomplished what USC has done since 2003. USC has the toughest non-conference schedule in the nation. USC can't control what the other teams in their own conference do, in terms of their relative strength. USC has shown time and time again, they can win the big games. None of the above programs
have won back to back national championships lately. You're
wrong sgtcej. They were co-national champions for the 2003
season with LSU. LSU didn't win the national title outright that season. USC won the AP Poll title Football Writers Association of America's Grantland Rice Super 16 poll, thereby capturing its fifth Grantland Rice National Championship. USC even led in the coaches' poll, but they had to crown LSU the champion, because they beat Oklahoma to win the BCS game to determine the national champion. Read the Wikipedia link, and you will see LSU
and USC are co-national champions for that season, LSU isn't the outright champion. As for Tennessee, they lost to Arkansas on the road, a team USC throttled. Florida' OOC schedule is weak. FSU is having a poor season by their standards the past 20 years or so, Western Carolina and UCF are terrible teams this season, period. USC-Ohio State would make an interesting game, but they have already scheduled Nebraska, Arkansas, and Notre Dame, winning each game by margins of 18,36, and 20 points. Two of those teams, spent top in the top 5 during the season, while the other one, Nebraska, was a top 25 team, who are playing in their conference championship game. Arkansas is playing in their conference championship game too. If there was a championship game for independents, Notre Dame would be in it, because they were the top independent school in 1-A football this season. Karl C shows how ignorant he is. They have beating up on teams outside of their own conference this season, winning by an average of nearly 25 points per game. Florida beat nobody good outside of their own conference, and they only beat FSU by 7 points. Tennessee beat Air Force by a single point on their home field. Georgia beat a struggling Colorado team by a single point on their home field, and their only good non-conference opponent was Tech. They lost to Kentucky, and scheduled teams like UAB and Western Kentucky. I could go, but Please stop perpetuating the myth that USC didn't win back to
back national championship during the 2003 and 2004 seasons,
when the evidence points to the contrary. Vince Young basically
won Texas the game last season, not the Longhorns. He carried
them on his shoulders to the title with his play.

Actually it usually takes 3 or 4 years before a team can be scheduled... USC does a great job of putting together a solid non-conference schedule, so it doesn't really matter which of the teams they schedule from the list... I would go with Texas, just because it's not as strenuous for travel.

Problem is, none of them would schedule USC (except as noted below).
For the record, Michigan is playing Eastern Michigan, Oregon, and Notre Dame next year (all at home) with one left to schedule. Ohio State is playing Youngstown State, Akron, at Washington, and Kent State (wow, that's pathetic). Texas has Texas Christian, at Central Florida, and Rice with one left to schedule. Florida is playing Central Florida, Troy, Florida Atlantic, and Florida State, all in Gainesville (another pathetic schedule).
USC is playing Idaho and then visits Nebraska and Notre Dame. Ohio State and USC begin a home-and-home series starting in 2008 (LA in '08 and Columbus in '09).

oh that would be the most awesome thing ever!!!!!!!
of course we will prolly play Ohio anyway so that shorttens the list.
ppl just dont get how great the USC guys are. If only the fans could vote for teams for us to play that'd be cool, but either way ppl are always gunna complain about USC. Its prolly because they are jelous.
All that mostly matters is that alot of ppl think USC kicks butt and the polls show we rock, beyond that other ppl can get over themselves
FIGHT ON!!!!!

Let's get this straight. USC has won 1 National Championship not two back to back and barely missing out on 3.
LSU won the N.C. and NOT USC.
They will be playing in their 3rd N.C. in the past 3 years and losing their 2nd of those 3 to Ohio State. USC plays a good game but they are not great this year. Sorry USC fans but you're delusional.

USC has a good program. But they aren't that good. They won't beat Ohio State this year.

Here's another guy having a bout of verbal diarrhea! If they play OSU in the title game, USC is going to get their @sses handed to them! Michigan would give OSU a better game than USC.
