Seems to me that naming your son "Righteous" is an extremely poor reflection on yourself...

It would seem someone would have to have one hell of an ego and think themselves pretty damn un-touchable to give their child a name like that. Why not just name him "Perfect" or "Flawless"? They all have a similar connotation of being better-than-thou.

I believe you have condemned your son to a hellish existence--the traumas suffered during school (the developmental years) can never truly be forgotten. Kids can be so very mean just because someone dresses different than them, let alone what horrendous name their mother/father gave them. I don't think it matters if he grows up and lives up to the name or not; he's doomed.

I feel terribly sorry for your child...in that he is indeed YOUR child. I'd also hate to see what you would name a pet...

That's my opinion.

Righteous is more like a word than a name. Hopefully your child will not be made fun of in school. Children are very creative and cruel.

I think he's going to get teased so bad that he'll hate the name. People with "normal" names tend to be better adjusted, get higher grades, and earn more money than people with odd names, according to a lot of studies. They would do things like give teachers papers to grade with various names on them and give hiring executives resumes with different names, and the ones with names that everybody recognised got better grades and were more likely to get the job offer than the very same papers/qualifications with oddball names.

I like it. It's different. If Righteous has a brother, they could be called "the Righteous Brothers".

I prefer oldfashioned names but your child might get teased with the name Righteous.

Simply righteous.

He better live up to the name or he'll be razzed, ridiculed and perhaps develop a complex. Then he could have self esteem issues and lack of confidence.

But then again, he could be GREAT and live up to the name.

Either way, what's wrong with Bob?

I think you have a lot of nerve. What a stupid name to give a kid. Why not just smack him up side the head, get him used to it, because that's whats going to happen for the rest of his life.

Not a very cool name. He sounds like a hippie already.
