The two are very similar. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) contains 20 carbon atoms and a total of five carbon-carbon double bonds. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) has 22 carbons and six carbon-carbon double bonds. It is the presence of these double bonds that give these fatty acids a curved structure so they don't stick to artery walls. Also, the multiple double bonds (also called unsaturation) give these acids a much lower melting point so they are liquids at room temperature, much less at body temperature (37.0 C).

Looking at the various roots:
Eicosapentaenoic= I co sapent a(short a) noik and I would put the accent on the "sapent"

Docosahexaenoic= Dokosa hexa noik

It's easier if you find the root word ( in these cases, in the middle) and work your way out. For the first you have PENTAE, LONG 'a' then PENTAE-NO, LONG 'O', - IC, and begin with EI , long i, co, long 'o', sa , short 'a'. Do the same for the second word starting with HEXAE.
