Yes, this is possible and likely.

I know of lots of companies that do not allow external access to emails due to "security" reasons.

hi.
im the girl that asked the eyelash breakage question.

i know no one takes anybody seriously when they say 'tell me when you find an answer' but im going to take you seriously.

i picked this as the best answer, but there are a lot of other ones, so you can go back and check the question again to see other answers if you dont like the one im giving you right now.

"Buy a conditioner for your eye lashes. Sounds crazy, but it truly exists. Wear it to bed each night and stop curling your eye lashes for about a week or two. Yes, people will notice but they'll notice the effects of the condition lashes even more after you give them a resting time. Also, make sure when you say your lashes are breaking, that it's not just the mascara you put on!"

Yes, this is true. Some companies who have their own personal email domain, those mails can be accessed only from office. However, when the executives have to go on business for long, the company allows them to access their email accounts from remote locations. This is possible only if the IT people allow them remote access by defining some routing details.

Other than that....i think ur bf is telling the truth.

That make a lot of sense, for security reasons a lot of company only allow you to download your email from the e-mail server when you are actually connected to that company network, that is why you can not check the e-mail at home.

Unless you have a VPN connection to your company network in your computer

Yes it is possible for a company to restrict access to their email server from outside domain(say restricting pop access). This is true mostly in govt, security, restricted research etc.
However, for an enginnering company it is rare. Because officers tarvel and interact. they need access to email on the go. Yours case can be on the minority side which don't allow.
Something interesting.

Yep..

My comaany also does like that.
I can't access my email from outside.
Only in Company i can access it.

I m working for GE(General Electric Company).

The reason is that it is used only for Professional Purpose rather than Personal Purpose.

Yes, alot of times companies put all the information in the computers and lock them, and allow you to only access by username and password, and offcourse you can't log in from anywhere else except your work area.
