How about just playing the spoons, or get an emply tomato juice (large) can and stretch a pce. of rubber or a rubber glove over the top after you have removed the lid and make a tom-tom

Get 8 bottles. Put varying amounts of water in them. Hit them with a spoon or similar. Now tune them to an octave by adjusting amount of water.
Sorry it is not very sophisticated.
