First they told me that capri pants were out and now we only wear cropped pants and now this! Should I wear the dress?? I dont want to look like a nerd. Like is it okay to wear white after Labor Day. What is Labor Day anyway?

First, I'm sure your hardworking parents must be insulted that you don't know what Labor Day is....but I digress.
There are only a few occasions in which you could get away with wearing white after Labor Day and not "...Looking like a nerd".
1. If you happen to live in Hawaii or any other tropical region where it's still hot & sunny.
2. It's your wedding day (you didn't mention if that dress was a Vera Wang so I'm assuming it's not your wedding gown).

Having listed those two reasons, do you really want to go out wearing a white dress during the winter months?
The answer is absolutely not! So save the dress until spring.

In this day and age, you can pretty much wear anything you like anytime you want. As long as you are comfortable with it, what do care what others think. Don't be a slave to the fashion industry. If it's lightweight material and the weather is chilly maybe you can add a turtleneck or long sleeved blouse under it or layer it with a sweater, etc. I'm lucky I live in Southern California so you can get away with wearing all sorts of styles year round because the weather is always the same, warm!

Labor day is a holiday in early September...you can wear the white dress but it is considered a fashion "don't" and if that matters to you then you would be uncomfortable with it especially if your friends make remarks. Maybe you should just wear it indoors by yourself for awhile to get it out of your system.

I thought that old saying was for WHITE SHOES after Labor Day because the weather starts getting nasty?
Why does society judge us on what we wear anyways?
This is America..home of the free....right????

labor day's just some lame excuse for ppl to stop working. 'we work so we should get a day off' type of thing.

and it depends on the weather. if its hot enough for a white dress, go for it. but if its a summery dress and it's kinda rainy, maybe snowing, hold out for the summer. totally depends on the style, not color

i do not see a situation with donning black to a wedding ceremony. I purely did some weeks in the past surely. Black is a suitable colour and maximum weddings are formal events. Now as for the white shoes after exertions day. seem out for Serial mom in case you pick to attempt this.

Wear it just to be different. Who cares what others think. If it's a nice dress wear it.

Why care what your friends think? Just wear the dress and if you wear it with confidence (and maybe a shrug over it?) you'll look great.
