You came to the right place- I've been doing standup as a sidejob for about five years. If you really want to make it big, though, start by doing local gigs. Work on your material. See which jokes stick and which ones don't. Don't try just waltzing into a big-city club asking for a job. Once you've done enough small local gigs and you have a fairly solid routine, try a bigger forum- small city clubs, usually late-night acts. If you get reputable enough, put together a tape of yourself doing a gig at a bigger club. Once you're big enough to be playing several clubs a night, seek an agent. Submit your material, shop it around to representatives at places like Comedy Central or small record labels. The rest writes itself about the same as any other big-name success story does- one special moves to a supporting movie role to an HBO special to an SNL gig to a major movie.
Or, if all else fails, YouTube.

How do you get to carnagie hall? Practice...
I have a friend in Orlando who is starting her career in comedy. She goes to the comedy clubs with open mike night and trys, gets suggestions and advice from other comics even a few known names. Practice Practice, the more you get up on stage the more comfortable you can be at it. Then look at some of the bigger markets, if you are good, you can get with a talent agency, send them some of your reviews, winning comedy contests, a demo tape etc. To make it big, you got to have an agent, to have an agent, you pretty much need to be good already (if the agent is gonna work for you and not just put you on a list somewhere, never to call again).

Make acquaintances with Jews and make constructive you get on their sturdy area. means, skills, and seems are not from now on only sufficient. you may want to carry close the right human beings and also you may want to carry close a large style of them. save in thoughts, in the action picture market, in case you do not galvanize directly you'll not in any respect get a 2d probability. in my opinion, shifting into the action picture market is the hardest ingredient in the international. I truly have over four hundred videos sitting on my shelf and that all of them were shot through 10 directors or so.

They rapidly learn to enjoy peanut butter, and accept the craft as a passion, then eventually learn to hate peanut butter, and keep working at improving their act within the craft.
