The problem today is many people interpret the first ammendment to say there is a seperation of church and state.
However you cannot read that in the 1st ammendment.
That came from a letter by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists basically stating that we are not a theocracy, but a secular government based on laws of men and not laws of God.
All that may be true, but our laws were patterned from the Bible whether people like that or not.
Aren't there laws against stealing, murder, rape and the like.

I don't think it's ever been more important. Too bad so many Americans believe we have "too much" free speech--all we need to do is look at places like North Korea to see what a lack of freedom is really like. Check out the first link below for a blog entry I wrote recently about the importance of protecting free speech and freedom of religion.

I don't understand how the constitution can be considered a joke. It is the constant measurement by which your freedom is measured and often upheld. The issues surrounding it aren't always easy issues, not all of them are cut and dry (hardly any of them) and our elected representatives and other groups can only do their best to apply them as technology and times change.

Yes, but religious freedom in America is disapearing. You can't even post the 10 commandments in school.

Yes, the religophobes at the ACLU want to burn anything with a cross on it, and push anything with a Koran in it into public schools and into the limelight. there is no balance, certain groups are more equal than others, and those groups hire lawyers and use judicial activism to push their agenda on us.
