how come my laptop is so slow in playing videos?

i have a brand new inspiron 1505 2 G of memory and dual centrino. and I have a gateway desktop that is 7 years old its got 180 of memory and its a piece of literarly s***. how come when i go to play videos on like youtube or google videos, my piece of s*** gateway loads them way faster than brand new superfast dell laptop?? is there a plugin that i need or sumthin i need to download to make it do that stuff faster??

One thing, go to Windows Media Player if installed. Choose Tools, then Options, and click on performance. Make sure the proper connection speed is listed (i.e. cable), then change the buffer size to at least 60. Hope this helps.
