If i am not a virgin, obviously since if you look at my other questions u will learn that im pregnant, but i am not with the man that got me pregnant. He is the only person i have ever had sex with, actually hes the only one i have done anything with including even kissing. I was planning on being a virgin until i got married, but i ended up making the stupid desicion to have sex with my x because i was "so sure that i was going to marry him." and because i stupidly gave into him pressuring me (i know i was an idiot) Now if i were to not have sex with anyone until i get married would it be called being celibant or abstinent?? or neither? i was just wondering what word i would use for this??

Looking over the definitions, both would be acceptable. Celibate would be the one that would stand out since you are unmarried.

By the way CONTINENCE is the synomym for ABSTINENCE in regards to sexual activity.

cel‧i‧bate  Pronunciation[sel-uh-bit, -beyt] –noun
1. a person who abstains from sexual relations.
2. a person who remains unmarried, esp. for religious reasons.
–adjective 3. observing or pertaining to sexual abstention or a religious vow not to marry.
4. not married.

con‧ti‧nence Pronunciation[kon-tn-uhns]
–noun 1. self-restraint or abstinence, esp. in regard to sexual activity; temperance; moderation.
2. Physiology. the ability to voluntarily control urinary and fecal discharge.

I would call it Smart, Youve learned your lesson, though it can never be changed of turned around, you are not giving up, and dont want to make the same mistake twice. Youre a smart, girl, I respect you for this. You even put the blame on yourself about this entire matter. Dont be too hard on yourself though, whats done is done. It was your Boyfriends fault just as much. But its over, and you can start a fresh, take care of your sweet lil baby thats on the way, and wait for the right man to come along and marry you! It is possible, My mom did the very same. Now I have a awesome Step dad, who married my mom when I was 1 years old. My mom was given a second chance, you have one too.
Stop punishing yourself, and start over, Im proud of you!

I like Le Asp and Misskashmere's answers, but to be honest I would think of you more as abstinent than celibate.

Monks and nuns and catholic priests take vows of celibacy (no sex ever, or never again), which gives the impression of it being a more permanent decision.

Abstinence means 'abstaining' from or refraining from, or avoiding participating in, which is pretty accurate for your situation.

EITHER ONE WOULD BE APPROPRIATE.
IN SCHOOL, THEY NORMALLY TELL YOU TO PRACTICE ABSTINENCE(NO SEX).
IN RELIGIONS, WE SAY CELIBATE(WHICH IS NO SEX FOR A REALLY LONG TIME AFTER YOU ALREADY HAVE DONE IT, UNUSED, OR REFRAINED FROM).

aww... undesirable guy, that wasn't very effective. i have under no circumstances stated as anybody a douchebag and meant it. i have absolutely suggested it jokingly. i do not care a lot for that element period. i image the former females that purchase them from the drug shop i paintings at.
