Ok. so I know a lot about dragons, but I could use a little more knowledge. Where did dragons live? did their location have anything to do with their appearance? Did some dragons have feathers or fur? And could dragons be real?

About dragons being real... Why I ask is that so many ancient cultures believed in dragons. Some of those cultures never had contact with each other. Like the South/Central American Myans, Aztecs, and Incans had no contact with the Europeans and Asian who also believed in dragons.

I have noticed a few dragon questions of late.. ITS GREAT!.
Yes Dragons do exsit on another dimention to our own.
Much like people say they see Ghosts or Angels.
They can visit our physical world and hence people have seen dragons.
You can see dragons, interact with dragons of course there is also a dragon magick out there that people also ask the help of these magickal creatures to help in there workings.
There is a book called "dancing with dragons" by DJ Conway.
I am still doing my own research on Egyption Dragons.
so to answer your question.. Yes dragons do exsit..

Actually Dinosaurs are the answer to your questions. Many scholars believe that the concept of dragons came from early discovered dinosaur bones that the peasants/ people didn't know what they were so they started to make stories. The reason why its so common across cultures is the fact that dinosaur remains can be found almost anywhere in the world.
Now, lets assume that Dragons do exist to answer some of your questions in terms of biology, I pick the Western European Dragon because the Oriental Eastern Type would defy laws of physics and destroy my whole logical argument.
Lets assume that dragons are most commonly like reptiles so they could live anywhere you can find other reptiles. So, the couldn't live in the Arctic or Antarctic areas. Well, assuming that dragons have natural predators, they would match their surroundings because the ones that didn't would of been naturally selected out of the gene pool for that population. Unless vibrant colors in designs help the male dragons reproduce more . Now, Dragons cannot of fur or feathers these traits are reserved for animals in the mammal and bird categories respectively. No dragons in the mythological sense cannot exist especially the fire breathing ones.

I realise that you do not want anything about Dinosaurs but that is a little like asking for information on horses and then saying "but do not mention the word pony."
In Mexico there was a very advanced culture named the Chupicauro people that lived from about 800 BC to 200 AD. They lived in the region called Acambars. One of their legacies was the ceramic models that they produced. Several cashes of these models have been found. The Mexican museums have about 35,000 authentic models. Included in these models are models of over 75 different dinosaurs. Many of these are what we would call dragons. There are no dinosaur grave yards anywhere in the vacinity. How did these people know what dinosaurs looked like unless they had seen them?
On the other side of the world, in one of the palaces of the Ankor Wat complex that was built about 1000 years ago in the rain forest of Cambodia there is a column with carvings of various animals that were indigineous to the area at that time. Included in these carvings is a Brontasuarus. There are no dinosaur graveyards there either. How did these people know what dinosaurs looked like unless they had seen them?
All of our lives we have been brought up with the idea that dinosaurs went extinct over 100 million years ago. It seems that this is not the case. How did they become extinct. Possibly by over hunting. They were big creatures that could wreck havoc. If they were systematically hunted down extinction would be the result. We need to go no further than the Passenger Pidgeon to see that over hunting causes extinction.
P.S. To the guy that said that Dinosaur bones are all over the place, let me say this. Fossel articulation (Where two or more bones are "attached" to each other as they would be in life) is very rare. To find complete skeleton remains that are fully articulated is extremely rare. Unlike scientists of today these ancient people did not take a single bone and make a whole animal from it. These people did not put flesh on some dinosaur bones and then call them dragons. What these people saw were real dinosaur/dragons.

I live in an apartment and I am in human form(magical powers).
In dragon form I have large horns, sharp claws and fangs, wide wings and tough scales. We dragons are universal because we are just so cool. Seriously, dragons are my life, you should see my car. Dragons are generally found in mountains and in water and sometimes in the earth. It is possible for an environment to determine how a dragon appears(adaptation and evolution) since it could apply to other species. The two views of dragons are generally Western(negative) and Eastern(positive). The look for each is different such as many Asian dragons have beards and no wings. I could go on but I will not since you seem pretty smart and cool.

I believe that dragons once existed, and it is quite possible that they could still exist today. Dragons lived in all regions, swamp lands to mountains. Yes, the location had a great deal to do with their appearance, they had to adapt to be able to survive the weather conditions. Feathers and fur, I'm not so sure about. I don't think so, since they are reptiles. They have no use for it.

There is a the Kimono dragon, that still exists today. It's really more of a reptile, but I say it still counts. And it's also a astrological sign on the Chinese zodiac.
I was under the impression that dragons had scales. But I think you're right about the appearance changing with location, like most other creatures.
According to myths, dragons live just about anywhere from the sky to hidden places, and come in a variety of colours and sizes. Some are friendly, some are lucky, others you just don't want to tangle with.
I'm sure you know tons more than I do about them, but I included a site anyway because....well, I like dragons too.

i personally believe tht Dragons existed once upon a time, absolutely, different areas where dragon lived had different appearance.
Like in China according to legend there lived two type of dragons, one was water dragon and the other was mountain dragon which had fire breath and could fly like a bird.
In Indonesia, according to legend there once lived spitting dragon which spits burning acid saliva.
In Japan, they too believed tht there lived 3-4 types of dragons, including a furry lazy dragon up in the snowwy mountains...
Looking at different stories made by different countries, we can sort out tht maybe dragons did once upon time roam the world. Bcs these stories or myths has been goin down from centuries.....
If you think tht in maybe be Dinosaurs, well, it maybe bcs dragons are dinosaurs too...the only difference is tht they never named the remains they found as a dragon....
seeing is not believing, believing is seeing.....

The western dragon resemble dinosaur with wings and the Chinese dragon resemble a snake with legs (something like a crocodile with a long body). Both of them are symbol of “Power” especially the Chinese dragon, in old time only “kings” or VVIP (very very important person) can use the symbol of Dragon. And Chinese dragon with 5 fingers is only for the kings
About your additional comment, I do agree with you, they have not contacted before and they believe the same things, so I think it really might exist. For example, God; in all cultures they believing in God, may be they call God a different name, but I think they are worshiping the same god.

Actually, I believe dragons (not dinosaurs!) could have existed. I've seen specials about it on TV- there might have been ways for them to fly, even. I agree that its odd for similar creatures to show up in so many ancient cultures, without assuming that they had to exist in some form or another.

l believe dragons basically came from Scotland,Wales area. They stayed closer to the rocky areas because they liked to make their homes in caves. Allot found higher up caves. Most dragons had scales just like a lizard but definitely larger. And l believe they really did exist at one time but were killed off by humans that were afraid of them.
