Best is always a blood test from a physician's office.
Home tests - it's good to go with name brands, because the generic Dollar General tests aren't always accurate . . mine showed not pregnant then 8 hours later the line shows up that I am . . so i took a name brand one, and POP there was that little plus sign in about 15 seconds.
Oh by the way - if you think you are a week pregnant, then no home tests will show that. If you are saying 7 days before your period then the closest you can get is one of the ones that literally says it - i dont remember the names maybe EPT?
The test is for a specific hormone, and if you are VERY early and insist on a home test, you should do it first thing in the morning when you have the most urine built up from overnight. The build up of the "pregnancy hormone" will be easier to read by the test but again, if you're talking 7 days pregnant, then no home test will work most likely.

a blood test is going to be most accurate at this time or you can hold off a few days and take a first response which supposesdly works up to 5 days before your missed period. I know your anxious but your best bet is to wait it out so you wont have any doubts about the results. Or you can buy a first response with a bonus test in it so if it comes back negative youll have another one to take if your period doesnt come.

Go to a doctor, and ask for eaither a urine test, or blood test. A blood test is best because it can tell you pretty much exactly "how pregnant" you are by your hormone level in your blood.
A HPT (Home pregnancy test) isn't a good idea b/c they usually don't work well that early, and it would be a waste of your money

The generic CVS brand caught mine 5 days before my period and the EPT didn't. Go figure, but I will stick to CVS brand from now on.

First response can tell you up to 5 days before your missed period. Its the only one I've heard that does that.

I would suggest using one of the digital ones. They are a little more expensive, but usually come with a couple of strips and are very easy to read, no guessing at whether or not there is a line there.
