2 He'll love it and Safety First makes some nice ones that are age appropriate for safety for him. My son got one for Christmas at 2 and it was the best thing I could've gotten him. The squeal of delight and the hours it kept him occupied were awesome!! :o)

RE:
What's an appropriate age for a child's first tricycle?
My littlest brother will be 2 in January, is he too young to enjoy a tricycle? His motor skills are better developed than his verbal skills. He's very energetic and coordinated. I'm not sure he would understand or enjoy the concept, however. At what age did your children start to enjoy...

If you can find a tricycle that is small enough for him, and someone will be with him to help him learn how to make his feet go round and round, and to help stop him from tipping over on the turns, its a great idea. My daughter is almost 4, but she is Chinese and very small compared to other kids her age, she got her first wheels at 3 just because of her size, she was ready at 2, but they don't make them small enough for her at that age.
You're a good big brother.

We bought my daughter one of those tricycles that are low to the ground and have a seat with a back (more like what we used to call a Big-Wheel bike when I was a kid) for her second birthday. She totally doesn't get how it works, though. The one we bought has a long handle in the back so we can push her, and that works well. We tried all summer to try to teach her to steer, and she was just starting to get it after a couple of months. She has no concept of pedaling, though. So two is too young for our daughter, but there's no harm in buying a bike, especially the style we bought, and starting to teach how it works.

im not a parent but my brothers little girl is almost 3 and on her 2nd b-day i got her a tricycle and she loves it. it was one that had a bigger seat and put her legs more in front of her but then probably like 6 months ago her dad got a actual tricycle from a friend and she rides it up and down the sidewalk with her older brothers, she flys on it. oh yeah she does have a helmet that she has to wear before she gets on a bike. i think your brother would enjoy if you show him how to use it and see you riding a bike he will grasp it fast i think.

Not before they can reach the pedals. There are small trikes available, but the little tikes tend to sit and walk rather than use the pedals at first. You'll have to teach them to keep their feet on the pedals. I have 21/2 yr.old granddaughters,1 can pedal the other likes to wallk but will try to pedal occasionally. Oh yeah! they are interested in motorcycles.
