I write papers like this ALL the time, becaue I study psychopharmacology (mind-altering drugs). The best way is to start with just the facts. Morphine is an opiate (it comes from opium)
Here's some base facts about Morphine
Morphine is one of the most effective drugs known for the relief of pain, and is the standard that new pain-relief medication is measured against. It also has several medical applications beyond pain-relief, and is frequently used in emergency medicine. It is available in oral solutions, sustained-release tablets, suppositories, and injectable preparations. The majority of morphine that is used illegally occurs in pill form. Morphine has proved to be extremely addictive. People also build up a tolerance to morphine easily, causing them to need more to achieve desired effects. It slows respiratory systems and can cause a person to stop breathing completely if too much is taken.
Another bit of interesting information is that heroin comes from morphine and essentailly do the same thing. In fact, when a person takes heroin, it's actually converted back into morphine in the brain...

When i was in a speech and debate class i would either start with something that would hit close to home or a quote, but make sure it is well thought out. The beginning and the ending are the two main points of any work no matter if its an essay or speech that your audience will remember, the opening and the closing. if you start with like a scenario that makes that reader have to put themselves into the story that will be memorable then end it with a quote from someone famous, like a philosopher or some sort of leader.
start with something like, imagine, you're in a dark room alone, you're hands are shaking, cold sweat beads dapple your forehead . . . something like that, that will pull the reader in
