Look in the newspaper. There are a ton of newspapers that publish their content for free online.
Once you've chosen a newspaper's web site, look at the news and find story that has an interesting topic. Voila!
Alternatively, go to http://news.google.com. Type a subject that interests you in the search box. It will show you resulting news stories. If the news story is related to current events, then you've addressed your needs.
Even better, call up a news station and ask them to give you three to five "current events" going on in the world or community that might be interesting to someone like yourself. Then choose from that list.

Uh...here's one that's really scary but has a lot of interesting info surrounding it...GLOBAL WARMING.
www.climatecrisis.org (An Inconvenient Truth...has info on cause, effect, etc.)
note: there is a theory that methane gas caused global warming to an extreme millions of years ago, killing the dinosaurs. Research this for an extra talking point.

i have a feeling this is for speech
The easyest way is to use the something youve subscribed to on your MyYahoo! page and print it out-thats what i do, and my speech teacher accepts the stuff i print off of my Yahoo page
