Should I get the updated iPod (a.k.a. the 5.5 generation, or 5.5G) with 80GB? Cnet.com believes that the sixth-generation "true video iPod" would not be announced until later in the year or even early in 2007. Should I wait or buy?

I don't really need an MP3 now and I thought that since iPod G6 will come out soon I didn't know if I should wait or not. But if this is true (http://www.engadget.com/media/2006/02/video_ipod_fake2.jpg) then I will wait.

You just got to love technology. There is always something new on the horizon. When the 6G iPods are released, there will be plans for the next generation.
You can wait or you can buy. The choice is yours. I would buy because I just hate to wait.

Every technically advanced gizmo you can buy is likely to be obsolete on the day you buy it, from the standpoint of the latest technology.

If you buy something right after it comes out, you will be most likely to find it is full of bugs, like my friend who bought a 42" Samsung plasma TV for $2500 last year and it no longer works. They say they will give him a new one, but that was a month ago, anfd they have done nothing.

So buy what you want based on your needs, and buy it when the prices begin to come down, or when the next model comes out.

Do not allow advertising and promo crap to influence your judgement. Remember that the goal of ads is to get as much money out of you as possible. It is called "maximizing profits".

I would wait. Why? Because when you get the current iPod Video, it will be outdated before you know it, and all that money you spent on it could have gone toward the new one.

Well, I'd wait to get to the sixth generation when it comes out in the spring... it holds more and has a bigger a screen so it's worth it.

There will always be something new & better just around the corner, and if you wait for the next best thing you'll never get anything. Get what you want, when you want.

iPod has somethin new every year, and if you wait, you will never get it. But it is your choice.
