What difference would an upgrade make? Much of a difference or not that much?

Any idea how much something like that might run??

Thanks.

The biggesst difference is transfer speed. Most devices meant for USB 2 will throttle down, but if you are doing something like copying a hard drive, you will really see it. If you are using a USB dvd player, it likely won't work without USB 2. Upgrade requires a PCI card which runs about 20 to 30 dollars.

The 2.0 is faster, but what difference it makes depends on WHAT you connect with it.

Some things will NOT work with the slower connection. Others will work with either at a speed that may not change much, and still others may show a significant difference.

The easiest way to upgrade if you have a desktop PC and a vacant PCI slot is to buy a USB 2.0 add on card and plug it in.
I don't know the current cost, but when I bought mine it was $19.95 and added 4 ports.

A USB 2 port is quicker. It's cheap to upgrade, but make sure your system is compatible.
