a) You can work in a fastfood, deliver newspapers, check to see if your school would hire you to help out in the library.
b) Put an ad in the local papers and offer to wash your neighbour's cars, babysit, pet sit, paint the house...
c) You can also sign yourself up at a temp firm and they will look for appropriate jobs for you based on your skills, e.g. PC skills, cooking, writing...

Just go and ask places if they have any work, your best bets are supermarkets (I worked in one for 3 summers). Bar's if they are willing to train you and also warehouses alsways need staff.
Also look at labour work, it doesnt pay well but its readily available.
AND if all else fails go to a Staffing Agency, these just place you somewhere are very short notice, its best if you have you own transport for these, but they pay well!
