I cannot believe the way people can be so misinformed about weed. There are so many people who have a couple of drinks every night but think that if someone smokes a joint there's some drug addicted loser. Picture a group of people hanging out and getting drunk. Before the party's over there's going to be a fight or some kind of trouble. Now picture a group of people smoking weed and just passing the joint around. No fights no bull sh*t. Just a bunch of mellow folks catching a buzz. An employer will not give someone a job if they smoke a joint or two after work but they don't care if someone drinks a fifth a night. Personally, I think the better employee would be the one who unwinds with a joint not the one with the horrific hangover! I sometime wonder how these politicians and lawmakers can actually say with a straight face that you can drink but not smoke pot. Marijuana is a natural herbal substance.

I see no reason why marijuana should have any different restrictions from alcohol. I could go on and on and on about this subject but I think you get my point and you don't even want to get me started on the marijuana vs. cigarettes argument or I may never stop!

I must concur with you on this point! There is nothing wrong with smoking some weed occasionally! And I think you are right in saying that alcohol is worse and causes many more problems! Look at all the accidents and people killed by drunk drivers! I do not know why people have such a stigma about weed! People really need to loosen up! Look at Willie Nelson! He is an outstanding human being who has done a lot for others and he is very open about his marijuana smoking!! Yes, I think much good could come from its legalization and also many health benefits, such as pain relief for cancer patients or extremely sick patients!! However, with our corrupt people(Bush) running this country, nothing like this would ever be made legal, because they do not want anyone to benefit from the sale of marijuana, they want to continue importing it and smuggling it into our country! So, I do agree with you on all points, but there are so many rigid people who just don't see it our way!! Smoke on, dude!

With alcohol, there are millions of deaths because of it. Over consumption, drunk driving, etc. With weed there hasnt been any factual case that anyone has ever died of smoking marijuana. There has never been any cases of someone over consuming marijuana, cause if you did, and if there was a way, you would probably just fall asleep. I would have to agree with you on your statement. Not only is alcohol worse for you, it can kill, cause it already has and we all know it. For those that think alcohol is better, then those people dont understand the effects of marijuana. I have been smoking marijuana for about ten years. I have never been in jail, ive never committed any crimes except minor traffic laws, and the obvious possession of marijuana. But i have never been caught using it or having it in my possession. They (in my opinion) should outlaw the use of alcohol. But since it is an "american tradition", there will be no way that the government or close minded people will ever believe that marijuana is safer than alcohol. But that is people for you, they dont see the facts, they want to believe what they want to believe.

I agree with you. I have used both drugs in the past, and YES alcohol IS classified as a drug. I was also a bartender for about 9 years. People would never believe the stories I could tell about things I saw drunk people do. If given a choice, I would much prefer to meet 10 stoned people in a row on a busy highway than 1 drunk person.

Weed does not make you cheat. Nor does alcohol or any other drug. For me the cheating would have been it - he would have been out on his ear. As for smoking weed again for me that would be a no-no. Has he tried to find work? Does he help around the house? If he doesn't then that would suggest to me he is just after the easy life and you are giving it to him. The link is to the effects of weed.

I totally 100% agree with you. Very well written. From what I read on yahoo answers the only reason why its illegal is because the government cannot tax it. People could just plant a few seeds and grow it without having to pay any tax on it. Its a lot hard to grow tobacco and make liquor. The thing that you have to understand is that UNCLE SAM IS ONE LITTLE GREEDY SON OF A B*TCH. If they can't tax it, then they won't make it legal. Their are no other reasons besides this one, the other reasons are just BS. If Uncle Sam can't get its fair cut then their not going to make pot legal.

You know what? I have used both, and yes, alcohol does ruin the liver and impairs a persons driving and usually there are fights, but mary jane also impairs driving and it screws up your lungs, and yes, cigarettes are bad for your health and for all of those around you, and I have never seen a fight break out because of mary jane, but I do believe that a lot of people that start with mary jane does go on to worse drugs. All of these, alcohol, cigarettes and mary jane are addicting and are bad for your health. Also, there are so many people that sells mary jane, that puts other drugs into it, I know I smoked some that had angel dust in it and I didn't know that it was laced with it, and I ended up with a stroke from it.

And you know what, I don't care how many thumbs down I get on this answer, but I am telling you from experience.

I sure wish I knew more people like you!!....everything you said sounded like stuff that's been going through my head for years....lol.....you are sooo right about alcohol and the social outlook on it....what about the drunken drivers?...what about the problems alcohol poses on a person's body.....the FDA must have not thought of that when they legalized it huh?.....and Yes, Marijnuana is natural......nothing wrong with that......don't care what no one says, weed is healthier than most anything else....even cigarettes and coffee.....why, caffiene is deadly in a large enough dose, but there's no limit to how many cups of coffee a person is allowed.....I could go on and on all night....just wanted you to know I feel for ya....and I totally agree....Peace!

I agree with you as well. I feel that Alcohol is much more distructive and damaging than marijauna. It will most likely never be legalized though. The government wouldn't let that happen. They're making too much money as it is. You never heard of a doctor prescribing crown royal to a cancer patient have you??

I agree, as marijuana has medical value and the government knows it. Why else would they continue with the program they started many years ago. were they provide patients with marijuana.
You don't hear about the neighbor smoking a joint and beating his wife, you hear about the neighbor getting drunk and beating her to death.
All goes back to "Reefer Madness". Rather sad because a lot of sick people would find relief with medical marijuana.
