What kind of modem/router do you have? If it's one of the 2Wire combo modem/router/wireless then you need to turn the wireless broadcast on on the router. Then you won't need the uSb adaptor, which I assume you connected to the router and one laptop. Once the wireless broadcast is turned on , the wireless antennas in both laptops should be able to pick up the SSID. See the instructions on the CD. if the modem is not a wireless router, but a regular router, then you will need to connect it to a wireless router. see the wireless networking forums and faqs at dslreports.com for more info. Also, if you have a 2wire modem, see the 2wire.com website.

Amed,

You have to work on this:
1) Get a Wireless router. Linksys is a good one for home ($ 90.oo)
2) Configure the router. To do this follow instructions located at installation manual. Is easy! this installation will ask you for a password, give a name to your wireless, etc...

At this point, you will need the installation CD that brings your router.

Installation should say you when and how connect the router to modem.

Once router is receiving internet signal...your laptops will start wireless communication with router. Wireless card located at your laptop are always looking for wireless router when they are not connected to one, so your laptop will notify you. If you configured a password during router installation (point 2), you would have to enter same password in your latpop too.

Same configuration should be done in laptop#2. (password)

That's it.....hope thats help you.... Good luck dude!

Usually the ADSL has a built-in router w/ 4 jacks in the back for network cables.

You need to buy a WIRELESS ROUTER which will plug into your ADSL's outging network jack. The rest of the computers will then connect to the router either via wireless or network cables.
