If a baby is sleeping I believe that you should let them sleep. If they are hungry they will let you know. You will hear the cry. Babies will cry if they are wet, cold or hungry. If you baby sleeps thru a feeding so what it won't hurt them. Besides don't let them grow with you have to eat because its' time better to eat when you are hungry.

My daughter was doing 8-9 hours a night with 2 6oz feedings 4 hours apart before bedtime.

She is a healthy weight and has not been sick.

Like some others, I wouldn't wake a sleeping baby as they will wake when they are hungry.

Wake the baby after 3 hours, and DO listen to the doctor, a 9 week old baby has to have nutrition more often than say a 17 month old baby so be sure he is fed during the night as well as during the day. He will become malnourished if he doesnt eat often enough then will end up sick. And possibly taken from you, so PLEASE DO feed him every three hours. 9 weeks is too young to go for several hours without eating. Keep in mind a baby's stomach is only as big as his fist, so you can imagine it empties out pretty fast!!

My son was sleeping through the night at 2.5 months, or I should say 9hrs. A bedtime feed, then one 9hrs later and back to sleep for a couple more. I would say let the baby sleep as much as he/she wants to during the night. I would wake him/her if four hours have passed since a feed during the daytime only. That teaches them night is for sleeping and day is for eating/playing.

Every baby is different, and the type of feeding is important. Is he/she breast feeding or bottle? Breast fed babies eat more often at first because the breasts are not that full, and they tire usually before they are full, so for them every hour to every four hours...Bottle fed baby will awade every two to four hours. Now this is just in general, like I said, every baby is different. Barring any other uncomfortable things (wet diaper, cold, hot, noise, etc.) those hours should be about right. Congratulations on your new one......You will get sleep next year, just in case you are wondering....

Most babies by this age are sleeping through the night. Do not wake up the baby to feed it--babies have natural instincts and will not starve themselves. If the baby is still waking up in the night--this is normal for this baby and do not worry about it. All babies are different, but be assured, if baby is not waking up, it does not need to eat. If baby is waking up, maybe you should try an extra feeding late in the evening to help the baby get through the night.

At 9 weeks a baby can sleep ONE 4-5 hour stretch. Then again if they are gaining well and alert and active they are getting enough food so don't stress.

Usually it is good to feed them every 3 hours....so after the 3 hours the baby will be hungry and wake up to be fed.

My baby slept longer than the 3hrs the dr wanted-asked me to wake her to feed her. I didn't-I let her sleep til she woke up- and she was sleeping through the night earlier than most. I would be up once in the night then in early morning- that was it. She is a healthy 8 yr old now.

as long as they are not premature, let them sleep as long as they want, never wake a sleeping baby. they will let you know when they are hungry and need to eat. usually 9 week olds sleep about 3-4 hours (formula fed, a little less for breastfed) at a time, but if your baby is sleeping longer than that, dont disturb them.
