I am only 16 yrs old.I am aware that i am still very young and have a future ahead. But my problem is that i hate school.Maybe its that i am not trying hard enought but i just hate it so much. What i want to do in life does not require history or Science!I want to be a cosmetologist. If that doesnt work out i want to be a hair dresser.I want to drop put and start right away in Blames or a school that can help me with that. The problem is that i want to tell my parents i just dont know how.I know its going to be dissapointing but they will get over it.I dont want you guys to tell me to stay in school because thats not exacly the answer i was looking for i was looking or a way to tell my parents i want to drop out.If i drop out now I can probably have the carreer i want by the time my classmates finish highschool.I will get a job of course.I get really bad grades becuase im just not interested in what the teachers are teching. I just want to get out and start with something im going to love!

I believe you have the right to choose your own path in life. If you are ready, willing, and able to tackle this new challenge, go for it. You need a well thought out plan, and a long term road map in mind. What will you be doing 5 years from now? 15? 30? What are your backup options if something goes wrong? Are there people you can depend on? Loyal friends, mentors, ppl who can give advice, ppl who can hire you? If you understand your situation completely, and still see this as the correct path, I say go for it. When you tell your parents, go through your plan carefully, highlighting what you will do,how you will do it and your Plan B if things don't work out. I think you must have passion for whatever you do in life. Good luck.

As much as you hate school, you still need that diploma.
A lot of companies won't even consider you application for employment without it even if you go to cosmetology school or a beauty academy.
What about later when or if you get tired of puting makeup on other peoples face or fixing up their hair and want to do somrthing else or go to college to get a degree?
Can you go to a cosmetology school during the summer break?
At sixteen, you are limited in the jobs and hours you can work.
Sorry I didn't tell you what you wanted to hear.

Even though you say we shouldnt say "stay in school" i still will tell you too. Your parents paid alot of money for your education and your suddendly gonna drop out just because you hate your school? Why dont you shutup and finish it anyways because i hope that you will love your job at a fast food place! If you stay in school you have a chance to make big money and you might be able to find something you love... AND GUESS WHAT YOU ARE A SPOILED BRAT!! YOUR B.ITCHING ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU HATE YOUR SCHOOL WHILE IM SURE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE DO THEY DEAL WITH IT. YOU CANT EVEN LIVE WITH IT AND that makes you spoiled

UPDATE:

Seems like Independant study might be best option and request to have that or switch schools if social well being is affecting you negatively.

As far as attitude, sometimes have to word things a bit more clearly to be understood. If leave out details that are crucial to stating your case, then you will have miscommunication.

Education is important. Be happy people want to support you in your education rather than not carrying if you drop out or not.

You stated "I want to drop out". Dropping out means, you quit. Getting your GED and attending night school is not dropping out or quitting. It is altering your environment and learning to continue education.

Can't give right info if you confuse us girl.

As far as discussing, we don't know your parents so, anything is available.

Just explain you have goals and have back up plans as nothing ever goes the way you really want it. Just explain that this is waisting your time as far as getting bad grades for nothing. You would like to alter your learning environment and have a few suggestions to help further your educational dream.

Give facts. Go to the school, get pamplets, get information, interviews and start discussing job search so you can be well on your way of having internships lined up!

just a bit of advice, dont drop out completely. you can actually find a home schooling program and do your own work and then meet with someone once a month or so and turn in your work, thats what i did, it was like 70 bucks a month, usually private schools offer this. i actually hated school at ur age also and then this is what i did, i can say tho, that i wished at times that i still stayed in school, but i did finish a year earlier through hard work, so i graduated a year early. if thats really what u want to do, then that job is still going to be there for you when you get outta school. i think maybe getting homeschooled would be the best, talk it over with your parents. they might like that idea better than dropping out all together. good luck

ADDITIONAL~ i received your email but it said your email could not be verified for me to reply. this was my message back~

hi, sorry i havent replied sooner, i was away from my computer. the summer before i started 11th grade i was working at subway, and when school started, i dunno why but it was the worst year ever, i used to be ok with school but i really couldnt take it, so this girl told me how she got homeschooled. it was through a private school like 2 hours away from where i live, but they would come down each month for u to turn in your homework and stuff. i dont know where u are currently located, but i can maybe check online if u let me know like what city or state u live in or around. i know the one i went through had students in louisiana, texas, and arkansas. i would really hate to see you drop out and then later u need your diploma or something. my fiance, when he was younger (he doesnt have his father) so when his mom was going to nursing school, she had this"roommate" homeschool him. but the guy never did, and then when he got his mom to put him back in school, he was so lost and didnt know anything the kids were doing. of course this was YEARS ago, hes now 23. but hes been wanting to join the marines and you have to have your diploma. and even having a ged they pick on you more and such. and he regrets his past and how everything worked out. so now hes struggling with some online classes to get his diploma. i dont know what grade you are in now. but i know you can get through it and that job will still be there for you when u graduate.email me back if you need more help. jessica

To be honest, you sound spoiled and lazy. School is part of life. You're 16. You have two damn years. Get it together. You'll be extremely lucky if you can get anywhere in life being a hair dresser. You probably won't stick with it, and end up working a shitty 9-5, and you'll regret dropping out. You're only 16, so you really have no idea what lies ahead of you. If your parents allow you to drop out, I'll feel sorry for you for being so misguided and given up on.

Here is an idea. Stay in school and get that education. Talk to your parents about what your goals are in life, such as being a cosmetologist. Maybe they can let you take some night courses at a community college? I did that when I was in school. Just a thought!

Sorry, I won't tell you what you want to hear, either. As I always told my high school boys..."don't let any doors close on you." Meaning, keep your options as wide open as possible. Don't let your life be dictated by doors that you simply let close on you.

In other words, study as hard as you can. Get extra help if you need to. REALLY try to apply yourself to high school. Get involved with activities. Immerse yourself in the experience. It's the only time you'll go through it.

When you're nearing the end of high school, THEN you can decide what to do...trade school? college? It'll really be YOUR choice and you can make the most of your life going forward.

You can almost never go wrong with more education/learning. It helps throughout life...helps you "fit in," helps you function, helps you become a problem-solver, helps you enhance your earning capabilities, etc.
