I was really hungry too at the beginning of my pregnancy. Stock your pantry and fridge with healthy snacks -- carrots and hummus, apples and peanut butter, yogurt (try to get the kind sweetened with fruit juice instead of corn syrup), whole wheat pretzels and crackers. Practice "grazing" -- eating a little bit all the time -- or try smaller but more frequent meals (like 6 small meals a day).

Don't let yourself get hungry before you eat. If you feel hungry you will reach for the junk food because your body is experiencing a sugar low and therefore wants the sugary and fatty foods. Carry your snacks around with you and eat them every 2-3 hours so you maintain even blood sugar levels. This will make you crave bad foods a lot less, especially after you get past the first few days.

Don't worry too much about the weight gain. Focus on feeding your baby with healthy nutrients instead. If you eat healthy and don't stuff yourself with french fries and donuts, you will naturally gain weight properly anyway.

Don't get junk food if you're hungry. Get healthier stuff. Apples are really good for you and they make you feel full if you eat it before a meal so you won't eat so much during the meal. You don't have to give in to cravings. Just don't get carried away with the junk foods. Try and eat a lot of healthy stuff that's good for you and the baby but some junk food is okay every now and then.

Curbing cravings in pregnancy is tough. If you don't give in to your craving you will end up eating everything else in sight. So try to give in but do it in moderation - even when you are not pregnant. As for not gaining too much weight - again enjoy your food but in moderation, and exercise!! The exercise will help with your weight gain and also your labour in the end. Also, try to keep your mind off food, and eat small healthy snacks instead of the junky ones - but allow yourself a little treat once in a while. Good luck!

I wouldnt worry about the weight, it's comin on one way or the other. AS far as your cravings, you should eat when your hungry but try to think of the baby inside of you to make healthier choices. If you are craving jumk food, you dont have to ignore it but its best that you eat just a a little vs the whole bag of something. YOull be fine... good luck and congrats on your pregnancy.

I know what you mean. My dr always said, "Sure, you're eating for two, but one of you is only 10 inches long!"
Go for fruit and veggies. I always kept baby carrots, oranges, raw broccoli and jicama (if you don't know what that is don't worry about it) in my fridge, and tons of dried fruits in the cabinet. You may want to stick to the higher fiber stuff, b/c you will get constipated like crazy while you're pregnant. Plus, the fiber helps fill you up faster and eases the cravings. Try prunes, dried apricots or berries, whole wheat or raisin toast, baked sweet potatoes, or pear slices dipped in peanut butter. All these things will hit that sweet tooth dead-on, and boost your vitamin and fiber intake at the same time.

Congrats to you!

Well you're always going to crave junk food and carrots and celery wont help. I recommend getting low fat foods. If you crave Ice cream get low fat frozen yogurt instead. If you MUST eat doritos eat the baked ones. But always try to eat healthy. Fruits and vegetables yes. Every expectant mother has to eat SOME junk food. Its their right, just do it smartly
