in WI- isn't against the law, but I don't know of any that were open, even Wal-mart

Here in northeast PA the following stores were open, K-Mart, Giant food store, Family Dollar, Dollar General, and I'm sure a lot more.

I live in WV and ours were all open I have never heard that a supermarket has to be closed. I think that it is just anything controlled by the federal government has to be closed

There are no Fedral or State Laws that "require" a private business to be closed on "any" holiday. You can not require a person to close his/her business for loss of money, thus that is a rumor and nothing more than that.

yes i believe so...my brother works for compusa and he told me that the police were going around stores and warning store managers not to open on thanksgiving or they'll get cited.

In Erie,PA they were all open although with shorter hours
