I have a Netgear Router, Windows XP with service pack 2, and I am using Wireles, My Computer is brand new, and it connects great to other wireless conections but not my own, Like I just mentioned I have a Netgear Router Model WGR614 v.6 and it has a high signal strength, and I am only 10 feet away and my internet is super slow why can I do?, I also have a freinf who has an Apple Laptop and his signal is great but his connection is also slow at my house. what can I do.

i think there may be a problem with the router you are using

Try a tool like NetStumbler http://www.netstumbler.com/ on your computer. That will show you the signal strength of your router more precisely and will also show whether there are other WiFi devices in range that would interfere with your connection. For your router, choose the channel (one of 1, 6, or 11) that has the fewest other high-signal-strength devices using it.
Consider that it may not be your wireless, it may be something different with your broadband connection behind the wireless router.

If both you and your friend have a slow connection using your wireless, you may want to try plugging into your connection directly (if you can) and see if it is slow when you are not using the wireless. Simply because you have a good wireless signal doesn't mean your connection will be fast.
