Go with the Media Center. It has a bunch of extra stuff for photos and videos. XP Pro only has tools for network administrators that most people don't ever use.

I'm a computer geek who does a lot of network work. I have no time for the toys in Media Center.

Therefore, I'll do Pro everytime.

Other that that, if you're looking to integrate this computer with your home entertainment system, do the Media Center.

It depends what your laptop usually be used for.

If you like to use laptop to listen to music, watch video, install media center edition. Otherwise, just a genuine XP pro is already good enough for your general use, such as surfing net, emailing, online chats, etc.
